For many ISTC students, Adult Education is the first step on the road to success. The Adult Education team is dedicated to meeting students where they are, providing personalized learning in a supportive, professional environment. In addition to basic literacy skills, students can prepare for the GED or earn a diploma from their hometown high school through Alabama’s Alternative High School Diploma program.

Under the direction of the Adult Education instructors, students can opt for small group learning, individualized instruction, or work one-on-one with qualified peer tutors. Fully equipped classrooms help students prepare for the GED exam, while Pearson Vue computerized testing labs provide immediate access to exam results.

Students interested in pursuing career technical education while earning a GED or high school diploma can take advantage of the Career Pathways program. Career Pathways students enroll in college courses while participating in traditional Adult Education; working toward multiple goals helps students stay motivated, increasing their potential for success.

Ingram offers Adult Education classes at the main campus, Draper and Tutwiler instructional service centers, inside Bibb, Donaldson, and Elmore correctional facilities, at Red Eagle Work Center, the Alabama Therapeutic Education Facility and Thomasville Day Reporting Center.
