J.F. Ingram State Technical College (ISTC) demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship this month by participating in the Alabama PALS (People Against a Littered State) cleanup initiative. Students and staff from multiple ISTC locations dedicated hours to cleaning local parks, helping to reduce trash and waste in surrounding communities.
"Environmental responsibility is an important part of good citizenship," said an ISTC President, Annette Funderburk. "These cleanup projects give our students an opportunity to make a positive contribution while gaining a sense of pride in their communities."
Teams worked diligently throughout the day, collecting litter and debris from public spaces. The effort not only beautified these recreational areas but also reinforced ISTC's dedication to being an active community partner.
Alabama PALS has been a driving force in anti-littering campaigns since 1987, partnering with counties, cities, communities, schools, and organizations throughout the state. Their programs focus on cleaning Alabama's streets, streams, campuses, and coastlines while educating the public about litter prevention.
Through this partnership with Alabama PALS, J.F. Ingram State Technical College continues to provide valuable service opportunities that benefit both students and communities across Alabama.
