J.F. Ingram State Technical College is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. David Walters as Interim President. Walters brings more than 30 years of experience in adult education, correctional education, and workforce development, along with a longstanding commitment to serving justice-involved learners across Alabama.
Throughout his career, Walters has championed educational access, innovative workforce training, and strong partnerships that improve reentry outcomes. He has worked closely with state agencies, industry partners, and community organizations to expand opportunities for individuals preparing to return to Alabama’s communities. His extensive collaboration with the Alabama Department of Corrections and the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles has positioned him as a trusted leader in the field of correctional education.
As Interim President, Walters will focus on continuing the college’s mission of providing high-quality technical training, strengthening community and agency partnerships, and supporting faculty and staff in their efforts to meet the evolving needs of students and employers. He has expressed appreciation for the strong foundation of excellence built by previous leadership and is committed to building upon that legacy during this transition.
ISTC looks forward to a productive and seamless period of leadership under Walters’ guidance as the college continues preparing students for meaningful careers, successful reentry, and brighter futures.
